Studio Host

Onboarding:

Overview of The Studio Host role

As a Studio Host you will be a representative of us. We ask that each person take this role with ownership both inside and beyond our studio doors. Our house rules, mission statement, and code of ethics are foundational to the way we operate as individuals and as a collective. We also ask you to hold us to accountable and support ethical standards for this community. If there’s something missing in our processes or offerings, let us know. We are forever learning, growing, and practicing repair when ruptures or harms arise. Please keep in mind that we acknowledge everyone has their own perspective of what a “community” or “collective” is defined as however, we believe and operate on the definition that the wellbeing of the whole is essential to the wellbeing of each individual and the wellbeing of each individual is essential to the wellbeing of the whole regardless if we all align on a personal level and do require care, civility, and respect for each other

Definitely grab one of The Rope Collective admin team members or the event instructor/facilitator if you don't have the answer or need more information):

- The Rope Collective is an artist collective with a focus on creating space for rope, performance/movement arts, and healing arts. Our studio offers space for education, practice, performance, exploration, and connection with others in the kink + wellness community. We offer weekly classes, workshops, open practices, and social events. We also have a variety of kink-centered sessions available for booking as private sessions with our resident and guest practitioners. Details can be found at theropecollective.com

Compensation + Trade

For every event worked, the studio host will receive free entry to the class they are hosting. if you host 5 or more classes you will receive a credit for each class you host to be redeemed at a Rope Collective event or class. For more expensive workshops or intensives a 15% discount will be offered. At this time, our host team is small, and we are using the honor system and relying on the host to track events worked, versus events attended. Please remember that we are a community all doing our best to work together and support the success of this space.

As a Studio Host, you will also have the opportunity to work boothing/vending at outside events, private events + rentals, or our special events outside of The Rope Collective Studio. For these, Studio Host and volunteers will can receive free entry.

Schedule + Booking Process

Our host schedule is typically available one- three months at a time. The Host Coordinator will inform the hosts through slack or whatsapp when a monthly schedule is live for signups. You may sign up to host up to 3 classes per month. After everyone is given an opportunity (48 hrs) to sign up for classes, if there are still host spots available you may sign up for more than 3 classes. On the schedule, there is a space to sign up as a “backup host” if you would prefer that.  However, you may not sign up as a “backup host” until all host positions are filled.

Cancelation and No Show Policy

We understand life happens and schedules shift. We ask that you provide 24 hrs notice if you need to release your shift so that we can find a replacement within our Studio Host team. If less than 24 hrs notice is provided it is your responsibility to find a replacement within the approved hosts. Communication and team work are vital to us providing a space that people can find safety, connection, and community within and we ask that you keep this top of mind, especially as we are depending on you to co-create great experiences.

In the case that you no show or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, we will put you on probation. If you cancel day of without providing an alternative option/make no effort to support us in filling your spot, are no show, or tardy for your shift without notifying the host coordinatos more than (2) times, you will be removed from the team and opportunities to work with The Rope Collective.

Collective Team Meetings

We hold Collective team meeting periodically. Host team meetings will be scheduled as necessary and we will give as much notice as possible so that you can plan to attend. We prefer that you join meetings in person as often as possible and we will also have options to join virtually in case you are not able to make it into the studio. It’s important that you attend as often as you can to stay updated on changes and progress within the studio, have a space to share and contribute to the development of our Community offerings, and provide your perspective on important topics in the kink, healing, and wellness San Diego and global community.

Welcome to The Rope Collective team!
