Decolonized Kink

Kink did not begin in modern dungeons—it has deep, ancient roots woven into the ceremonies, traditions, and spiritual practices of cultures across the world. Join us for Decolonized Kink, a lecture and guided discussion exploring the origins and practices of kink within indigenous societies and world religions.

Together, we’ll look at how elements such as ritual pain, ecstatic states, power exchange, and ceremonial adornment have long been embraced as paths to connection, transcendence, and community. This event invites us to reframe kink not only as play, but as a continuation of practices that carry sacred, cultural, and ancestral meaning.

Spotlight Series

Spotlight Series

We’re proud to launch our new monthly Spotlight Series, a space dedicated to uplifting community voices and sharing the craft, passion, and knowledge

Taking care of leathers can be a simple task, a service, or an erotic exchange of energy. For some it is a fetish for a type of boot, an act of community service, or an expression of service to a select few people. The individuals that take on the identity of being someone that cares for leathers and boots are often called bootblacks.

This class will be an introduction to the basics of taking care of high shine and oil tan boots and leather garments with some discussion on how it can be used in different contexts.

If you would like to participate with your own supplies here’s a small list to get you started:

- Glycerin soap or saddle soap

- Horse/boar hair shaving brush or horsehair dauber brush for soap

- Spray bottle of water

Microfiber or terry cloth towels

- Hard wax polish

- Lint-free cut up t-shirts

- Leather conditioner

Optional:

- Creme polish

- Toothbrush

- Horsehair buffing brush

- Gloves

- Q-tips

- nylons

Each month, The Rope Collective opens its doors to highlight the voices of our community. The Spotlight Class gives a member of our local scene the opportunity to share their knowledge, passion, and perspective—whether through teaching a skill, leading a discussion, or exploring topics close to their heart.

This rotating series is designed to uplift community voices, celebrate diverse experiences, and create space for learning from one another. Come support your peers, expand your understanding, and be part of an ongoing conversation that strengthens our community.
